Accessibility statement

Commitment

The programme is committed to digital accessibility for people of determination and senior citizens. This statement follows the UAE National Policy for Digital Accessibility. It describes how accessible the website is, what is not yet fully accessible, and how to get help.

Standard

The website is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the minimum the national policy sets.

What has been done

• The whole website is available in Arabic and English, with Arabic laid out right to left.
• Arabic is set in Noto Kufi Arabic, the Arabic typeface of the UAE Design System, chosen for its legibility.
• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline and a link to skip straight to the main content.
• Text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio against its background.
• Pages use proper headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers can navigate them.
• Images have text alternatives, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• Form fields have visible labels. Errors are explained in words, not by colour alone, and are listed together at the top of the form.
• The layout adapts to phone screens and to browser zoom without cutting off text.
• Animation is reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
• There are no time limits on reading pages or completing the enquiry form.

Known limitations

• The registration form is hosted by Fillout, an external service. Its accessibility is outside the programme's control, and it may not fully meet the standard. If you have difficulty with it, the programme team can help you complete it, including in person on the Information Desk days at the Al Rams Majlis Office.
• The website does not include its own read-aloud tool. It works with the screen readers built into phones and computers, such as VoiceOver, TalkBack and Narrator.
• The partner logos are images that contain text. Each has a text alternative giving the entity's full name.

Technical requirements

The website works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, on computers and mobile devices, and with their built-in assistive technologies. The enquiry form needs JavaScript to be switched on.
